Most hunters show up to camp with a rifle that’s technically functional but not actually ready. The scope was mounted at a gun shop six months ago, zeroed on a calm day at 100 yards, and hasn’t been touched since. That’s not field-ready. That’s hopeful.
Field-ready means the rifle in your hands has been set up correctly (mechanically and optically) and verified at range before it ever leaves the building. Every component torqued to spec. The scope level. The zero confirmed. No surprises when you’re glassing a bull at 400 yards on the second morning of a five-day elk hunt.
What Actually Goes Wrong With DIY Setups
Scope mounting is one of those things that looks simple and isn’t. The common failure points aren’t dramatic, they’re small errors that compound at distance.
Rings that aren’t lapped correctly introduce stress on the scope tube. A reticle that isn’t level means your windage corrections aren’t actually horizontal — they’re diagonal, and that error grows as distance increases. Inconsistent torque on the base screws means the zero shifts after a few hundred rounds of recoil, or after getting banged around in a truck.
None of this shows up at 100 yards on a bluebird day. It shows up at 500 yards in a 15 mph crosswind when you’re running out of daylight.
How the Fierce Field-Ready Packages Work
Every rifle in our Field-Ready inventory goes through the same in-house process before it ships.
Our gunsmith handles the optics installation, correct torque specs, scope level verified, rings and bases matched to the rifle. This isn’t a counter-mount job. The same person who builds Fierce rifles is the one mounting your glass.
After the bench work is done, that same gunsmith carries the rifle to our on-property range in Redmond and dials it in. The zero is confirmed, not assumed. You’re not getting a rifle that was zeroed by a previous customer or zeroed hypothetically. It’s been shot, verified, and documented.
When it arrives, it’s ready to hunt. The only variable left is you.
Who This Is For
The field-ready packages are built for a specific type of buyer: someone who wants a capable, proven rifle setup without spending weeks sourcing components, scheduling a gunsmith, and driving back and forth to the range. Hunters who have a season coming up, a hunt already booked, or who just don’t want to deal with the setup process.
It’s also a good option if you’ve had a mediocre experience with DIY scope mounting and want to start from a clean baseline. Sometimes it’s worth paying to have it done right once.
What’s In Stock
Inventory changes as builds come through the shop. Current available packages (including caliber, optic, and configuration) are listed right here. If you have questions about a specific build or want to know what’s coming through the pipeline, reach out directly.
These aren’t floor models. They’re built rifles, set up correctly, and ready to go to work.
