The buck is bedded on the far face, a mile out, and your 10s can’t tell you whether he’s a shooter. That’s the job 12x was made for. Most 12-power binoculars bounce around too much to use hands-free. The NL Pure is shaped differently. Its narrow “wasp waist” body puts your hands where they can lock the image down, and with the optional forehead rest added, the view gets steady enough to judge a buck all the way across a basin.

You give up very little field of view for the extra magnification. At 339 feet at 1,000 yards, the 12×42 still sees more country than many 10x binoculars. SWAROVISION field flattener lenses keep the image sharp all the way to the edge, so you aren’t refocusing every time your eye moves across the frame.
